The Problem

A childcare centre had generic evacuation diagrams that did not reflect the specific needs of evacuating young children, including cot-room procedures and outdoor play area assembly points.

The Challenge

The centre had multiple rooms with different age groups (0-2, 2-3, 3-5) each requiring different evacuation considerations. The existing diagrams were generic templates that did not account for non-ambulant infants or the specific assembly areas used by the centre.

Our Solution

We worked with the centre director to understand their specific evacuation procedures, then prepared AS 3745 compliant diagrams that clearly show age-appropriate assembly areas, cot-room exit routes and the specific procedures for each room type.

The Outcome

Clear, compliant evacuation diagrams that the centre could use for staff training and regulatory inspection. The diagrams were commended during the centre's next assessment and rating visit.
